Regional Kazakh Drama Theater. I.Omarova was founded in 2000, in the “Year of Support of Culture”. The official opening was held on September 14, 2000, at which President Nursultan Nazarbayev attended. He wished the young theater creative success and good performances. The first performance of the theater was the drama “Abylay Khan” by A. Kekilbayeva.

On January 12, 2012, the theater moved to a new, modern, typical building. In the history of the theater, the opening of a new building will be recorded in gold letters. The perfect decoration and beautiful appearance to this day delight the audience and guests of the theater. In August 2012, the theater was visited by the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. He expressed his appreciation to the artists of the theater for their creativity and work.

To date, the repertoire of the theater includes more than 90 productions from national, foreign classics and modern drama. Each month in the hospital are about 20 submissions.

The professional level of the theater has been repeatedly confirmed by victories at republican and international festivals. In 2001, at the Republican Theater Festival, held in the city of Petropavlovsk, for his role in the play "Abylay Khan", the actor Konysbek Begaydarov was awarded the prize "For the Best Male Role". In 2004, at the Republican festival dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the national writer of Kazakhstan Saken Zhunusova, actress Akmaral Kasymova won the main prize for creating the image of Fatima. In 2007, the theater was awarded a special diploma at the regional festival dedicated to the 100th anniversary of S. Kusainov.
