Kostanay Puppet Theater opened on December 31, 1986. The performance of A.Sadovsky “Masha and the Bear” became a point of reference in the history of the theater.

The performances of the puppet theater took place with sold-out items: “Masha and the Bear” (A.Sadovsky), “Once again about the Little Red Riding Hood” (S.Efremov), “By Shchuchiyu's command” (A.Garakhovskaya), “The sun and snowmen” (A Veselov), “Warm bread” (K. Paustovsky) and others.

In 1999 the Kostanay puppet theater was united with the regional Russian drama theater named after M. Gorky.

In June 2012, the puppet theater regained its independence, its own stage, its own building.

Today, the theater repertoire has 30 performances. In 2013, the puppets in the theater first spoke in the Kazakh language in the play “It is necessary to be necessary” (D. Kusainov, H. Bulebekov). And in this great merit of young actors.

The creative component of the performances remains unchanged, they are based on the works of Russian, Kazakh and the best foreign drama. The actors work with different types of dolls - walking stick, tablet, glove, growth, which makes the performances diverse, new and unusual and always interesting for small and large spectators.

Over the years, the theater has won a number of prestigious awards and diplomas from Kazakhstan and Russia.
