The akim of the region held a meeting of the akimat, where they considered the results of the socio-economic development of the region for the first quarter of 2022 and the issue of the development of single-industry towns.

According to the deputy head of the Department of Economics and Budget Planning Almagul Bekbaeva, according to the results of the 1st quarter of this year, there is an increase in all macroeconomic indicators in the region.

-The growth of industrial production increased by 2.8%, including the manufacturing industry-7.8%, investments in fixed assets-9.7%, the commissioning of residential buildings-6.2%, construction work-33.1%, trade-5.2%. In total, since the beginning of the year, industrial enterprises of the region have produced products worth 577.0 billion tenge, - A.Bekbaeva reported.

The head of the region, Archimedes Mukhambetov, instructed the akimats of cities and districts to take measures to implement revenue sources and prevent a decrease in dynamics by the period of the previous year.

Next, we considered the issue of the development of single-industry towns.

In his Address to the People of Kazakhstan "Unity of the people and systemic reforms are a solid foundation for the country's prosperity," Head of State Kassym–Jomart Tokayev noted that 27 single-industry towns account for about 40% of industrial production.

The main problems of single-industry towns are socio-demographic trends, a reduction in industrial production. A significant problem of single-industry towns is the unsatisfactory state of engineering and social infrastructure. High wear of water supply, sewerage, heating and electrical networks requires significant financial investments, etc.

As noted by Archimedes Mukhambetov, at the moment there is a plan for the development of single-industry towns of Kostanay region.

-For today, a development plan has been developed for single-industry towns like Arkalyk, Rudny, Lisakovsk and Zhitikara. The plan provides for the implementation of investment projects, the construction of new enterprises, the modernization of existing plants, which allow creating new jobs. We are also strengthening support for the development of small and medium-sized businesses. The main tasks in the development of the industry of single-industry towns are the preservation and increase of production volumes, while maintaining or reducing the current population. At the same time, single-industry towns located near large cities and along major traffic flows have greater development potential," the governor of the region noted.

In general, the voiced problematic issues are being solved step by step within the framework of comprehensive plans, it should also be noted that the implementation of comprehensive plans will contribute to the creation of new jobs, an increase in the output of industrial and SME products, an increase in the level of housing provision for the population and other positive shifts in the development of single-industry towns.
