The Program for provision of innovation grants was launched in 2010 by the Ministry of Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan (formerly - Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Kazakhstan) in the course of implementation of the Program for accelerated industrial and innovative development for the period of 2010-2014.

10. Advanced technologies in the furniture production and wood-working industries

11. Advanced technologies in the light industry

12. Advanced technologies in the construction industry, including the use of new materials

13. Advanced technologies in the packaging industry

14. Robotics industry

15. Nano- and space technologies

16. Power industry

TYPES OF GRANTS

In accordance with paragraph 3 of Article 20 of the Law No.534-IV of the RoK “On government support of industrial and innovation activity” of January 9, 2012, there are nine types of innovation grants to be provided for the following purposes:

1. Technology commercialisation - Grant is provided for creation of the test laboratory sample at the first stage in the amount of 95% of total costs, but not more than 5 mln. tenge, for creation of the experimental industrial sample at the second stage in the amount of 80% of total costs, but not more than 50 mln. tenge, for production and sale of the test batch of product at the third stage in the amount of 60% of total costs, but not more than 100 mln. tenge.

2. Advanced training of engineering and technical personnel abroad - Grant is provided for acquisition of new knowledge, skills and experience, for improvement of production organisation effectiveness, maximum 10 persons, reimbursement of 40% of the costs , but not more than 2 mln. tenge

3. Engagement of highly qualified foreign experts - Grant is provided for improvement of technology processes, for improvement of equipment utilization efficiency, reimbursement of 40% of costs for foreign expert services, but not more than 9 mln. tenge per person per year, not more than 3 experts per year

4. Engagement of consulting, design and engineering organisations - Grant is provided for reimbursement of costs for consulting organisation services in the amount of 40%, but not more than 5 mln. tenge, for reimbursement of costs for design and engineering organisation services in the amount of 30%, but not more than 30 mln. tenge

5. Introduction of management and production technologies - Grant is provided for reimbursement of costs for introduction of management and production technologies in the amount of 40%, but not more than 15 mln. tenge

6. Acquisition of technologies - Grant is provided for reimbursement of costs for acquisition of a patent and/or a license in the amount of 50% of the cost of a patent and/or license, but not more than 150 mln. tenge

7. Performance of industrial research - Grant is provided to the legal entities carrying out entrepreneurial activities for engagement of domestic and/or foreign scientific and technical organisations in the amount of 40% of reported costs, but not more than 30 mln. tenge

8. Support of activities on production of high-technology products at an early stage of development - Grant is provided for production of high-technology products according to the list approved by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the amount of 70% of reported costs, but not more than 50 mln. tenge

9. Patenting in foreign countries and (or) regional patent organisations - Grant is provided for filing of an international application, acquisition of a patent abroad, maintenance of a patent in maximum three countries during a period of three years in the amount of 95% of reported costs, but not more than 6.25 mln. tenge
